Heading in the direction opposite from Cabo San Lucas, we took a car up to the quieter San Jose del Cabo, avoiding the tourist strip by the beach and exploring the town. We visited Mision de San Jose, and read plaques describing the untimely demise of priests who insisted that the native tribesmen take only one wife (they didn’t take kindly to the suggestion).

Mision de San Jose

We walked about the narrow streets, including off the central area where we saw homes and the local elementary school. Mia bought a pink hat and a magnet, adding stablizing cashflow to a local t-shirt shop. I let Mia continue her mooching while I snoozed on a bench in the central square.

Walking the streets near the central square.

The central square is very large, with lots of benches and a covered bandstand.

A huge Mexican flag at the side of the central square.
